SAVE
THE GEORGE TAVERN & STEPNEY’S NIGHTCLUB! URGENT!
Swan Housing Association are planning to
demolish Stepney’s Nightclub to make way for 2 ground-floor commercial units
and 6 luxury apartments with a balcony and a roof terrace. The proximity of the development to The
George Tavern would result in the loss of their live music licence and put the
George at serious risk of closure.
We
do not want to let this happen!
The George Tavern provides a well used and much loved collaborative artistic space in the heart of the East End: a truly historic venue which has hosted many a notable shoot, among them Lawrence Watson's shoot of the legendary Grace Jones.

The George Tavern by stating your objections to those plans by:

JOCELYN BAIN HOGG: 'THE FAMILY'
Ten years
ago Jocelyn Bain Hogg’s 'The Firm'
documented a thriving London underworld. Dominated by a few notorious players
who had made their names during the 1960s and 70s, among them were Freddie Foreman,
Tony Lambrianou, Roy ‘Pretty Boy’ Shaw’, Bruce Reynolds and Reggie Kray. The
biggest player of the lot was ‘Big’ Joey Pyle whose influence extended across
London for thirty years, from unlicensed boxing matches to the music industry.
Ten years on, Bain Hogg’s 'The Family' documents the legacy of Joey Pyle, inherited by his son
Joe and supported by the three men – Warren, Alan, and Mitch – who were appointed
by Joey before his death. These Four men
make up 'The Family', an intimate
circle entrusted to continue Joey’s business after his death in 2007.
'The
Family' opened this weekend at Foto8 and is exhibited
until 14th January 2012.
