With Super-Alpha, Supermundane takes his love of typography to its natural conclusion, drawing bold letterforms with compass and ruler and allowing his organic drawing style to populate the shape. The result is both free and controlled, working as strong sans serif type and multidimensional drawings that reward in-depth viewing.

“Coming from a graphic design background, I’ve always had a love of typography. The alphabet is an amazingly resilient code that can take a huge amount of abstraction whilst still being recognisable to us. The core letter shapes can be seen as frames that can be clothed in endless ways. I have a preference for bold, simple letters and coupling that with my signature drawing style was a very natural progression.” Supermundane, 2013

Nine artists of Frankfurt and eight from England have developed and produced works especially for children between the ages of five and twelve. Havelock Walk Open Studios

Havelock Walk, where our own Supermundane is based, is home to a diverse community of creative people, who live and work on the cobbled mews at the heart of Forest Hill.

Twice a year the painters, sculptors, photographers, ceramicists, designers and other arty types of Havelock Walk open their studios to the public in a two day exhibition. Open studios offer a unique insight into the working life of the artists, and afford visitors the personal opportunity to meet each artist together with their work.

The artists invite you to come and join the excitement, and to show your support for creativity in the local community.

The next Open Studios is December 1st/2nd from 12-5

Friday Late is a Monthly night held by the V&A when the museum is open from 10:00 to 20:00 with Friday Late events starting at 16:30.

This Friday at the V&A is a Halloween Special celebrating the horror movie genre.

SUPERMUNDANE for FRIDAY LATE at the V&A: LOLI-POP

The last Friday of every month (except December) is Friday Late at the Victoria & Albert museum. The museum is open from 10:00 to 22:00 with Friday Late events starting at 18:30. Supermundane aka Rob Lowe created this ribbon-adorned logo to promote Loli-Pop, this months Friday Late event celebrating Lolita, the Japanese street fashion.

"Join us for an evening of Lolita fashion, the unique street style that combines Japan’s obsessions with cuteness, punk and Gothic macabre. Be styled in pink, with frills and wigs, plus doll-like make-up with an edge. Celebrating the related V&A display Kitty and the Bulldog: Lolita Fashion and the Influence of Britain in Japan, Room 45."

SUPERMUNDANE DESIGNS COVER FOR 'THE DIARY OF A NOBODY'

Supermundane designed the cover for the Penguin edition of 'The Diary of a Nobody' by George and Weedon Grossmith.

SUPERMUNDANE - WALLPAPER HANDMADE COVERS AT THE KK OUTLET

We thoroughly enjoyed attending the Wallpaper Handmade Covers private view at the KK outlet last night. Some great work on show by Supermundane (aka Rob Lowe) as well as Tom Hingston and Ian Wright among many others. The exhibition runs from the 5th to the 24th July, go and check it out.

ROB LOWE AKA SUPERMUNDANE AT KEMISTRY GALLERY

Supermundane recently showed his work at Kemistry Gallery which was also featured on the Creative Review website.

The show, entitled Details, is an exploration into the sense of depth often present within Rob's drawings. The work on show is a magnification of existing images which reduces them to simplified lines, shapes and colours.

"These new works have developed from studying my own drawings in a subjective way," Lowe explains. "I was interested in what it is about them that gives the optical effect of depth. I realised that nothing in my drawings exists in isolation and it is the way the lines (or rather the things they are outlining) interconnect that gives the feeling of depth."

SUPERMUNDANE: HANDMADE COVER FOR WALLPAPER

Illustrator Supermundane has created this wonderful cover for Wallpaper magazine. You can also see a VIDEO of Supermundane creating his cover on the Wallpaper website.

It's Nice That talk by Supermundane

Supermundane (a.k.a Rob Lowe) gave a talk at It's Nice That and GF Smith's 'Beauty in the Making' event. The talks take place as part of "GF Smith’s five-day exhibition celebrating artistry in all creative practices, the space will also play host to installations, workshops and live demonstrations exploring paper-making and craft, with input from Montotype and the British Council’s Architecture, Design and Fashion department."

SUPERMUNDANE (ROB LOWE) CREATED THE LOGO FOR FITZBILLIES CAKE SHOP

This is the logo for the famous Fitzbillies cake shop in Cambridge. The logo is a reworking of the original shop front sign by Supermundane (Rob Lowe).  In 2011 Fitzbillies was closed down, only to be rescued by Tim Hayward and his wife Al who revamped both the menu and the shop.

Tim Hayward is probably better known as the editor of Fire & Knives Food Quarterly for which Rob Lowe provides Design and Art Direction.

SUPERMUNDANE PRESENTS KIBBO KIFT: A PICK ME UP ART FAIR LATE EVENT

As part of the Pick Me Up art fair Supermundane (Rob Lowe) is presenting and evening of poetry, music and art. The lineup consists of graphic artists and illustrators who also make music and write poetry. Kibbo Kift takes place as the first late night event at Pick Me Up art fair from 6:30pm to 9:30pm Thursday 22nd March at Somerset House.
